Sweet & Sour Cabbage Mushroom Dumpling Filling
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp. canola oil or sesame oil
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 cloves of garlic, minced
- A ca. 2 cm long piece of ginger, peeled and finely chopped
- 1/2 small head of cabbage, finely chopped
- 1 spring onion, finely chopped
- 200g mushrooms, finely chopped
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1 1/2 tbsp. flour
- 1 tbsp. dark soy sauce
- 1 tbsp. apple cider vinegar
- 2 tbsp. brown sugar
Directions

Heat the canola oil / sesame oil in a pot over low-medium heat

Add chopped onion, garlic, ginger and cabbage. Stir well and cook for about 3-4 minutes or unil the cabbage becomes soft

Then, add the chopped mushrooms and spring onion and let everything cook for another minute

After about 1 minute add all of the other ingredients (salt, flour, dark soy sauce, apple cider vinegar,brown sugar). Give it a good stir and cook for 5 minutes

Add a bit more salt if needed and start filling your dumplings

Notes
After steaming the dumplings, I love to add a chili broth on top. For ca. 26 dumplings you’ll need 100ml vegetable broth, 1 tbsp. sesame oil or canola oil and 1 tsp. chili flakes. Give everything a good stir and start drizzling it on top of your hot dumplings 🙂Â
Tip: Chop all your veggies in a food processor to save time
